  19. <p>     Author Hunter S. Thompson may next aim his gonzo journalism
  20. at something close to home: his own trial in Aspen, Colo., for
  21. possession of cocaine, LSD, marijuana and explosives. The
  22. substances were found in a search of his house after he was
  23. charged with sexual assault. Thompson, the model for the
  24. Doonesbury character Duke, maintains that visitors left the
  25. substances over the years and protested that the search was an
  26. invasion of privacy. He told an interviewer: "Things have gone
  27. a lot farther in this country than I realized."
